Recently, I read an article from my church describing the difference between burn out and burn on when spreading the gospel. As a Christian, I can relate this message to the workplace as well.
In a toxic environment, people eventually burn out — passion fades, creativity shrinks, and even the most capable employees lose their spark. However, in a healthy and supportive environment, people burn on. Their passion grows, they feel valued, and they are empowered to give their very best.
A strong workplace culture does not only drive performance; it also fuels purpose. When employees feel respected, heard, and encouraged, motivation becomes natural. They do not work merely out of obligation; they work with conviction, ownership, and pride.
Just like in faith, where encouragement keeps us moving forward, a positive work culture reignites energy and commitment. Great leaders inspire rather than intimidate, and great teams lift one another up.
That is when people truly shine.
Let us build workplaces where people do not burn out…
but burn on.
